The City College of New York Men’s basketball team bounces back after a tough loss to St Joseph Bears as they steamrolled Manhattanville College 106-85.
City started the game very energetic and focus as it would turn out to be for the entire game. The Beavers started with an 8-0 leading 13-2 in the early minutes of the first half. They would not look back. Beavers kept pounding Manhattanville in the paint and drawing fouls throughout the game. Manhattanville’s defense had no answer for City’s offense. They finished the first half leading Manhattanville 54-39. The 54 points is a season-high in the first half for the Beavers.
The punishment continued for Manhattanville College as the Beavers continued their level of urgency and forcing turnovers. City forced 13 turnovers and turned that into 23 points to add onto their impressive score. Defense creating offense. Manhattanville tried to fight back but it wasn’t enough. City’s biggest lead of the game was as many as 29 points. City shot .588 from the field throughout the game.
Khalil Hamer finished the game with 17 points for the Beavers. Five other players scored in double-digits in the victory; Mark Richards, Ram Chada, David Solano, Robert Dionisio, and Rhodes. Chada led the Beavers with eight boards, while Hamer with seven assists.
City improves to 6-4. Their next game will be against Lehman College on Jan 3rd at home.
