Jeremy Lin Being Discriminated

The discrimination towards Asian Americans during this pandemic is out of control. Basketball player Jeremy Lin is trending right now because he was called “Coronavirus” during a G League game.

I became a fan of Jeremy Lin when he broke out in 2012 when he was with the New York Knicks. He led the Knicks to a winning streak, which earned him the nickname: “Linsanity.” After the Linsanity era, his career has been a rollercoaster. A part of it had to do because he wasn’t getting the opportunities he deserved and injuries catching up. He was still putting up solid numbers, but teams weren’t seeing that.

Lin did the right thing by coming out and share his story. He published this story on Twitter.

Malibu’s Most Wanted

After a conversation last night with my best friend, I needed to write a post about the 2003 comedy Malibu’s Most Wanted. This is one of those movies that it’s not meant to be taken so seriously and it’s enjoyable to watch for some good laughs.

There are so many funny scenes and lines from the movie. One of the parts that makes me laugh is when Taye Diggs says, “Holler back player.” Diggs, who is African-American, delivered that line like if he was a white man. His character is basically someone pretending something that they’re not and he’s an actor. This also leads me to another scene with Diggs. When him and Anthony Anderson play as gangsters, and they carjacked Jamie Kennedy, Diggs kept changing the position of the gun. He would have it on his left hand, switch it to his right hand, back and forth, haha. I found that part funny.

Jamie Kennedy, as the lead actor in the movie, also had some funny moments. For example, when he kicks a freestyle to Regina Hall, he says this:

“Ayo, traffic, traffic, looking for my chapstick. Feeling kinda carsick? There’s for a maverick.” Jamie plays the character of a white man who is trying to become the “biggest rapper there ever was.”

Come to think of it, I might watch that tonight.

Sabonis Replaces Durant in ASG

Nets forward Kevin Durant will remain out until after the All-Star break due to a left hamstring strain he suffered earlier this month.

Therefore, Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis replaces Durant on the All-Star roster, while Celtics forward Jayson Tatum will replace him in the starting lineup. Tatum is the highest-ranking forward among East reserves.

Durant has missed nine of Brooklyn’s past 10 games — three because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Nets will have to be careful with Durant. He’s no stranger to injuries and this team is trying to win it all this season. They will need Durant to be healthy for the postseason.

Devin Booker Will Go To The ASG

Devin Booker will go to the All Star Game. He will be replacing Lakers Center Anthony Davis, who is out with an injury, at the all star game.

Booker received his second straight All-Star selection, both as an injury replacement. He’s averaging 24.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds and is shooting a career-high 50.1% from the field.

Lebrun said yesterday that Devin Booker is the “most disrespected player in the NBA.” This come after Booker got left out of the All Star Game, but now Booker will get his chance to be part of this exciting event.

Booker and fellow teammate All-Star Chris Paul have helped Phoenix to a 20-10 record, fourth best in the NBA.

I’m very happy that Booker will be part of the All Star Game. I’m a fan of his game and this will finally be the year that he will make the playoffs.

TV Presenter Ramon Anibal Dies

TV Presenter Ramon Anibal died today of a heart attack. This is another blow to my childhood. Another piece of my childhood died. Anibal was 76.

He’s not known everywhere except in Dominican Republic and New York. Anibal is a local legend. I’ve seen the man on TV for my whole life. My most memorable time seeing him was in Channel 35. If you had the black cable box, then you know what I’m talking about.

Ramon Anibal had his own show called “El Show de Ramón Aníbal Ramos”. Anibal had a great TV personality. He was always big and strong. His legacy will never be forgotten in the Dominican community.

Tiger Woods Involved in Car Crash

Tiger Woods suffered serious injuries to both his legs after a single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday morning near Los Angeles.

Woods was conscious when deputies arrived on the scene. According to reports, Woods was wearing a seatbelt.

Over the past 10 years, it has been a rollercoaster for Tiger Woods. He’s been battling with injuries, getting arrested for DUI, and now this accident. Woods is lucky to be alive and wish him a speedy recovery.

Mike Tomlin Tests Positive for COVID-19

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin got tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 changed everything from March 2020 to present. It doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor, anyone can get infected. The U.S. has surpassed 500,000 COVID-19 deaths.

I hope Mike Tomlin gets better soon and I have no doubt that he will be fine. He’s a very good coach who should have more than one ring on his resume.

Miguel’s Friday Thoughts

It’s that time for Miguel’s Friday Thoughts. Johnny Damon arrested for DUI in Florida. Brett Gardner returns to the Bronx. Here are my thoughts on those two news.

Johnny Damon getting arrested for DUI caught me by surprise. Damon always seemed to be like a cool guy and stays out of trouble. So this was disappointing to hear that kind of news about him. I hope everything turns out to be fine for him and his family. Driving under the influence is never a good idea.

Brett Gardner signs a 1-year, $4 million to stay with the Yankees. Gardner is the only remaining member of the 2009 championship team. I’m not mad for him coming back. I like the player that he is and brings leadership to the clubhouse. I just hope we get something from him in October. Yankees are a good regular season team, but they crumble in October. But still, congrats to Brett Gardner. He’s a Yankee for life!

Sports Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another edition of Sports Throwback Thursday! I know I didn’t write a Sports Throwback Thursday post last week, but I made sure that today I will give you something to read about. Today, I will talk about Wrestlemania 21. My favorite Wrestlemania during the Ruthless Aggression Era.

Wrestlemania 21 was special. You had an epic match between Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels. They put on a show. Two great wrestlers bringing the best out of each other. This is one of the matches where you had to tip your hat to HBK. Although he lost the match by tapping out to the ankle lock, but he performed so well in that match. He got a standing ovation.

Edge won Money in the Bank match. I used to think Edge was crazy because of the facial expressions he used to make. I’m like “what is wrong with this dude?.” I feel that Wrestlemania 21 was the beginning of Edge hitting his peak moments in the business. The beginning of a future main event wrestler.

Randy Orton aka the “Legend Killer” vs “The Phenom” The Undertaker is one of my favorite rivalries in the Ruthless Aggression Era. This was an exciting match to watch. It was their first of several matches they went on to have in 2005. Undertaker defeated Randy Orton connecting with a Tombstone Piledriver to keep his Wrestlemania undefeated streak at that time. The streak was broken by Brock Lesnar.

John Cena and Batista won their first world titles at Wrestlemania 21. Cena defeated JBl, Batista defeated Triple H. They became the two of the biggest superstars since The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I was a big fan of Batista. 2005 was his best year. The company went on to make John Cena as the top guy in the business. I was hoping for Batista to be the top guy for years to come, but the man is having success in Hollywood. I respect John Cena’s work ethic and dedication to the company. I don’t like his gimmick, he’s been the same character for over ten years, but his hustle is something I respect.

How I Lost My Phone & Got It Back

What could’ve been a horrendous situation turned out to be a relief. It was a tough start to my Wednesday morning.

Last week, I bought an iPhone 11. Today, while I was staying in my godfathers apartment, I left the apartment to go to my parents house. I thought about taking the bus, but I thought I had left my metro card upstairs. I got lazy and didn’t go upstairs. Hours later, I realized that it was inside one of my pockets in my coat, haha. Anyway, I decided to call Lyft.

Minutes later, I got out of the car. Before I went upstairs to my parents house, I went to the Cleaners to drop off an Aaliyah shirt and one pair of jeans. When I left the Cleaners, I started searching through my pockets and I realized that I left my phone inside the car. I was extremely pissed off. How can I be so irresponsible? I just bought my phone last week. I never experienced losing a phone before. How can this happened?

When I got upstairs, I was fuming. I had to installed the Lyft app from my moms phone and report about a lost item. I also went to Boost Mobile and told me what had happened. The representative gave me a number to call the insurance department. I called the insurance department and the lady told me that she couldn’t find my number in their records. Say what? I have insurance. What are you talking about? This just pissed me off even more.

I wasn’t going to give up so easily. I wasn’t going to go nowhere until that phone appears in my hands. My mom came up with a brilliant idea. She told me to call my phone and see if someone will pick up. I called my phone and no one answered. Ten minutes later, I called again. This time, someone picked up. It was the driver who took me to my parents house. He had the phone. It was a sign of relief. He told me that he was very far away in the Bronx almost 25 minute drive from my parents address. I told him that I called him from my moms phone and that when he arrives to call this same number.

When he arrived to the block, I went downstairs. Hoping that is all true. When I got downstairs, there it was. My iPhone 11 is back on my hands. I gave the man $100. Why so much? The man made a sacrifice to come from the Bronx all the way back to Washington Heights to give me my phone. If he wanted to be an asshole, he never would’ve done that and kept the phone to himself. So god bless that man for doing the right there.

This is a huge lesson for me to be very cautious of my belongings. This needed to happen to me for a reason. I was very mad at myself for being irresponsible. But now, I can smile again, haha.
