Eddy Alvarez

Miami Marlins infielder Eddy Alvarez becomes the 11th American to compete in both Winter and Summer Olympics.

The 31-year old from Miami, Florida, was a short track speed skater who represented the United States and medaled at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The performance made him the first Cuban-American male speed skater to make a U.S. Olympic team. At the Olympics, he won a silver medal in the 5000 meter relay after failing to medal in his three individual events.

He made his Major League debut on August 5th, 2020. Alvarez is quite an impressive story to follow. What an athlete!
