Welcome to Sunday Sports Shorts! Juan Soto might have a chance to win NL MVP, Mitchell Robinson bulked up in the offseason, Cincinnati snaps Notre Dame’s 26-home game winning streak, and Rangers beat Bruins in overtime.
Juan Soto is having the best second-half performance out of everyone in the National League. Soto is going up against Bryce Harper and Fernando Tatis Jr, but Soto has a legit chance to take home the award. These are his second-half numbers: .360, 18 homers, 52 RBIs, 63 runs, 4 stolen bases, 1,195 OPS. Soto is playing great baseball and his performance shouldn’t be overlooked.
Knicks center Mitchell Robinson dedicated his offseason to build up his body. He did just that. The 23-year old looks great and ready to go for training camp. Robinson could be a real physical low-post who plays excellent defense in Thibodeau’s system. Knicks need to give him more shine on the court. Durability will also play a factor this season.
Cincinnati snaps Notre Dame’s 26-home game winning streak. Cincinnati came with a lot of confidence in the game. Their defense was the catalyst in Saturday’s game; Cincinnati didn’t give up on big plays, especially in the first half. Cincinnati defeated the fighting Irish, 24-13.
Alexis Lafreniere skates past Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark to score the winning goal, 4-3 in overtime. Rangers bounced back after a six-goal loss to the New Jersey Devils. Impressive win by the Rangers.
