For the first time in 26 years, the Florida Panthers are going to the Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
They eliminated the Washington Capitals in Game 6 on Friday night with a 4-3 overtime win that featured Carter Verhaeghe playing the hero role again.
Verhaeghe scored his second overtime goal to give the Panthers the series-clinching win.
As for the Washington Capitals, it was a heartbreaking loss to end their season the way they did. Capitalsnfought hard in the series, especially in Game 6. They couldn’t hold on to their lead in the third period.
