The captain is among the most beloved, respected, and revered in Yankee history and baseball overall. The way he conducted himself in the public eye is extraordinary. Kids looked up to him. He played the game the right way, but most of all. He was a WINNER. On Friday night, it was Derek Jeter Hall of Fame Induction night at Yankee Stadium. It’s funny because he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame last September.
I wasn’t in the Stadium for the ceremony. I didn’t see it. I’ve been on TV, but I got to see it on YouTube. I like that he got driven around the ballpark for his entrance. His wife and three children accompanied Jeter. Derek Jeter’s daughters were adorable during the event. They kept trying to get their father’s attention.’
Jeter has numerous amount of accolades on his trophy case. I don’t have to list them one by one. He has accomplished so much in this game. We miss the captain at shortstop. We miss his leadership. We love Aaron Judge, but you can’t replace the captain. There’s only one and only Derek Jeter. Call him overrated all you want, but his personality, professionalism, and work ethic made him so loved and appreciated by New York fans like myself.
