Throughout cinema history, we have been blessed to see outstanding Director-Actor collaborations. The chemistry between Director and the Actor is essential. In the same way, as it should be between a Director and Cinematographer. When we think about great collaborations between Director and Actor, we think about Martin Scorsese with Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, and Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson. Great collaborations, huh? What if we see one movie collaboration between Jake Gyllenhaal and Martin Scorsese?
Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best working actors in Hollywood today. His drive, his commitment, and his dedication to any role that he portrays leave the audience in awe. Jake was on a hot streak from 2011 through 2016. Some of my favorite performances from him are End of Watch, Prisoners, Nightcrawler, and Southpaw. Jake Gyllenhaal and Martin Scorsese have never worked together, but they are great at what they do. Marty is an outstanding director, and Jake is an extraordinary actor. Jake doesn’t have an Oscar, but he deserves one in the future. Marty has one Oscar, but he should’ve had at least four in his trophy case. A dream collaboration between these two would be amazing to watch. We didn’t think it would happen between Al Pacino and Scorsese, but they finally did with the movie, The Irishman.
Scorsese is in his 70s. He doesn’t have much time left in this world compared to Jake, who is in his 40s. We hope to get both for one picture before their time runs out. A possible movie genre that could work between them is a Comedy-Drama film or a Biopic. Marty is no stranger to biography films. Jake has proven that he can take on challenging roles, and Marty loves that about the actors he works with. He also expects his actors to improvise. Let’s bring these tie men together and make movie magic.
