Dennis Rodman, nicknamed “The Worm” turns 63 today. One of the greatest rebounders and defensive players of all time. Rodman’s life and career are interesting and everyone should want to read about it. Rodman overcame tough times during his childhood to become a Hall of Famer.

Dennis Rodman grew up without a father, but God blessed him with four male figures who made a huge impact on his life: James Rich, Chuck Daly, Jerry Buss, and Phil Jackson. Without these men, we don’t know where Dennis Rodman would be today. All of them were responsible for teaching him the game of basketball, seeing the goodness in Dennis, and welcoming him with open arms while many people wished bad things on him.

Dennis could’ve been dead or ended up in prison, but he worked extremely hard and didn’t stop persevering. Rodman may have been flamboyant off the court, but he was all business on the basketball court. He was everything you would want in a player. He didn’t care about scoring. Rodman had a defense-first mentality. He won Defensive Player of the Year two times in his career during his tenure with the Detroit Pistons in 1990 and 1991. He established himself with the Bad Boy Pistons, where he contributed to both of their NBA championships in 1989 and 1990.

Rodman had a second great career with the Chicago Bulls, a major rivalry with the Detroit Pistons back in the late ’80s/ and early ’90s. He won three championships with Chicago from 1996 to 1998. Rodman put the Bulls at a point where they were dominant especially that 1995-96 season where they won 72 games.

Rodman was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. He finished his career as a 7-time rebounding champion, 8-time All-Defensive team, and a two-time All-Star.
