They’ve reunited, and it feels so good. Actor Will Smith and filmmaker Michael Bay plan to work together again on a new Netflix picture.
According to Deadline, Bay is in final negotiations to direct Fast and Loose, an action film starring Smith. There is no timetable for its release.
Fast and Loose follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent.
Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson wrote the screenplay. The writing team seems to enjoy working together. The Hoeber brothers have worked on a variety of projects.
Jon and Erich wrote scripts for films such as Red, The Meg 1 and 2, Battleship, and My Spy.
Bremner had previously written scripts for Bad Boys For Life, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and The Man From Toronto.
Will has regained momentum after the success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The film franchise grossed over $400 million at the box office worldwide. Unsurprisingly, you have two household names in Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Fast and Loose is a project Smith has been following for a long time. The picture will most likely come to fruition.
Smith won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in King Richard (2021). After King Richard, he starred in the movie Emancipation, directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Bay’s previous two projects were a vigilante action thriller, 6 Underground, which came out in 2019 and was released on Netflix, and Ambulance, an action thriller heist film in 2022 starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Both movies didn’t receive good praise from critics.
Smith and Bay will collaborate for the third time. This new project will be their first collaboration since Bad Boys II, over twenty years ago.
