The Leon Draisaitl Game! Draisaitl lifts the Edmonton Oilers to victory on his birthday with the final score of 3-2.
Draisaitl, who turned 29 on Monday, scored two of the Oilers’ three goals. He scored the game-winning goal just 18 seconds into overtime. Draisaitl has six goals this season.
Draisaitl spoke with the media after the game to talk about his performance on his birthday.
”“All around great night,” Draisaitl said. “Great win for us. It’s always nice to come back in a game like that, find your game, start your road trip off right, and get back to work tomorrow.”
Draisaitl extended his point streak to six games (five goals, three assists). McDavid has 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 16 career games against Detroit.
Evan Bouchard had one goal and one assist. Goaltender Calvin Pickard made 24 saves for the Oilers. The Oilers went 0-for-2 on power play possessions.
The Red Wings won 60% of their face-offs. Andrew Copp had a goal and an assist for the Rwd Wings. Patrick Kane had two assists. Goaltender Cam Talbot made 31 out of 34 saves.
The Oilers beat the Red Wings for the fifth time in six games (5-0-1).
The Oilers visit Columbus on Monday, while the Red Wings host Winnipeg on Wednesday.
