Steven Spielberg’s feature project is building momentum, and the production has added a new cast member, Josh O’Connor.
O’Connor joins an impeccable cast that includes Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, and Colin Firth. David Koepp is writing the screenplay for this new project.
Koepp and Spielberg have a history of working on various projects. Koepp wrote scripts for Spielberg’s films Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones, and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Universal has set a May 15, 2026 release date.
O’Connor stars in the movie Challengers and is considered an Oscar-caliber contender.
Other productions he’s attached to are The Mastermind and The History of Sound.
The History of Sound is based on Ben Shattuck’s short story about two young men who met in 1916 and traveled together in the summer of 1919 to record the folk songs of their countrymen in rural New England. The project is a historical period piece.
O’Connor won an Emmy and Golden Globe award for his performance as Charles in the Netflix drama series The Crown.
Aside from films and television, O’Connor has also worked on stage productions.
O’Connor has been part of five stage productions: Farragut North, Versailles, The Shoemaker’s Holiday, Oppenheimer, and Romeo and Juliet.
