St John’s Red Storm played terrific defense on Saturday in a sold-out crowd on “Lou Carnesecca Day” as the Johnnie’s defeated Butler 70-62.
Red Storm improved to 12-3, 3-1 in Big East Conference play.
RJ Luis led the team with 20 points and 11 rebounds with four steals.
Zuby Ejiofor added 14 points and eight rebounds.
Kadary Richmond significantly impacted defense and rebounding, especially in the last few minutes of the game. It was one of his best performances of the season. He finished with 11 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
Red Storm made one of 21 three-point attempts. The team is not known for shooting too many threes.
The Red Storm’s next game is on the road on Tuesday against Xavier.
