The Baltimore Orioles’ bats got the best of Hunter Greene, who was dominant for the Cincinnati Reds this season as the Reds fell to the Orioles 9-5 on Saturday at Camden Yards.
The Reds went 4-for-17 in runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base. Greene picked up his second loss of the season after giving up three home runs, five earned runs, six hits, and two walks in three innings of work.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Orioles belted two home runs off Reds starter Hunter Greene. Orioles centerfielder Cedric Mullins homered to right center field. Mullins connected his sixth homer of the year.
First baseman Gunnar Henderson joined the party by hitting one to center field for his second homer of the year. Henderson homered for the second time in three days after not hitting any home runs over his first 10 games of the season.
Jake Fraley tied the game 2-2 in the top of the second inning—his second homer (of the season.
TJ Friedl doubled to right field to bring Jose Trevino home. Friedl was the Reds’ best hitter on Saturday. He went 4-for-4 with a double, walk, stolen base, and two RBIs.
The Orioles would answer back in the bottom of the second inning when Henderson doubled to right field for an RBI double. It’s Henderson’s fourth double of the season.
In the bottom of the third inning, Ramón Laureano hits a two-run home run to left center field to give the Orioles a 5-3 lead. It’s Laureano’s second home run of the season. Laureano would homer again in the sixth inning. Laureano finished the game going 2=for-4 with three RBIs coming off the bench.
The Reds are looking to win their second consecutive weekend series. The first pitch begins at 1:35 pm.
