New York Giants’ newest running back, Cam Skattebo, emerged as one of the top running backs in college football last season.
Will Skattebo be the future starting back for the Giants?
Skattebo is a competitor. The Giants selected him in the fourth round, 105th overall. The 23-year-old reminds us of former running back and Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch, who is tough to tackle and breaks tackles.
The Giants need that level of toughness and someone who wants/loves to win. He truly loves the game of football.
Skattebo made this clear during an interview on the Giants’ YouTube channel.
“I love football,” Skattebo said. “I’ve been doing it since I was born. My dad and my brother pushed me to be the greatest and the best.”
Skattebo led the Arizona Sun Devils to one of the most improbable runs in college football. He’s one of the reasons why they won the Big 12 championship and became one of the teams to make it to the College Football Playoffs.
Although the Sun Devils lost to the Texas Longhorns, Skattebo’s performance was amazing. He was named Peach Bowl Offensive MVP.
Skattebo finished his senior season with the Sun Devils by recording 293 carries for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns, 45 receptions for 605 yards and three touchdowns.
The Giants need to work more to establish a strong offensive line. If they can improve their offensive line, that can open up many more opportunities for Skattebo to rush for yards.
The Giants’ future is in good hands. Skattebo represents what New York fans are expecting from the athletes.
The fans want someone who will always give 110 percent effort. If you watched Skattebo play football, you would bet your money on him.
Skattebo must remain healthy and prove he’s worthy of the running back position starting in preseason.
