Academy Award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is set to write and direct the sequel to The Social Network.

Sorkin is teaming up with Sony Pictures again. Both sides collaborated on the first movie back in 2010. The Social Network was a big success. The film earned eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and Sorkin won for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The casting process is still underway. There’s no indication whether Jesse Eisenberg, who played Mark Zuckerberg in the first movie, will return for the sequel.

For the sequel, Sorkin can take many different routes with the script. He could write about the January 6 incident in Washington or Donald Trump’s re-election. It could be about anything.

Sorkin is one of the best screenwriters of all time. Anything he touches turns to gold. Therefore, we are confident in his ability to guide us through the sequel to The Social Network. Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser join Sorkin to produce the picture.

Many things have changed from 2010 to 2025. The internet and technology have grown and expanded to a higher level. So, this sequel will be very different and have more interesting dynamics than the first movie.

Sorkin started his career writing plays and then transitioned to writing for film. He made his directorial debut with Molly’s Game. The Social Network 2 will be his fourth directorial film (Molly’s Game, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Being the Ricardos).
