The Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt agree to a three-year extension worth up to $ 123 million, making Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
The Watt family knows a thing or two about hard work and earning it. About 11 years ago, his brother, J.J. Watt, became the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, earning $ 16.7 million annually. Now, we see his younger brother make history and surpass him with an annual income of $ 41 million.
Regardless, the Watt brothers are hard workers and very talented—two future Hall of Famers. As for T.J., he’s one of the best in the game at his position. Over the last five seasons, he has led the NFL in sacks, averaging 73.5 per season. In the 2024 season, he had 11.5 sacks.
The Steelers have one of the best defenses entering the 2025 season. This team is loaded with talent. There’s no excuse for them not to make a deep run for a championship if everyone can stay healthy. The fact that they now have themselves a quarterback in Aaron Rodgers means that the Steelers are ready to make some noise in the AFC.
Watt won the Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. He will turn 31 in October. Watt is still in his prime, and this is an excellent time for him to help take this team to another level. The Steelers are the front-runners to win the AFC North.
