Chase Briscoe has officially advanced to the Round of 12 after winning the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, leading 309 laps.

The last few laps were exciting when Briscoe and Tyler Reddick were battling to see who would win the race. Reddick came close to passing Briscoe, but didn’t get to him. It was a great night of driving.

Reddick was not too thrilled that he didn’t win the race. He’s getting tired of finishing second.

“For me, it just makes me sick,” Reddick said. “I feel like late in the race, especially this one, Southern 500, I always find myself second or third place in the last green flag run, trying to pass later.”

Reddick was the MVP of last year’s regular season. It’s been a rollercoaster 2025 season for Reddick, but there’s still time for redemption. The good news is that Reddick accumulated 35 points. This loss is a tough pill to swallow. Although

“I’ve done everything I can to win at this place, and it’s really starting to drive me nuts,” Reddick said.

Briscoe held his son in his arms and shared the victory with him. It was a big win for Briscoe and the Joe Gibbs Racing team.

“So cool to win two Southern 500s in a row,” Briscoe said. “This is my favorite race of the year, and it’s just because of you, race fans. Every time you come out here, the place is sold out, and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else. It’s a great way to start the playoffs.”

Greg Biffle is the last driver to win two Southern 500 races in 2005 and 2006.

Next Sunday, the event will take place at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway. The race begins at 3 p.m. ET.
