Untold: The Fall of Favre is one of the Untold series episodes available on Netflix. The story focuses on the dark side and the moments of Favre’s life outside the football field.
Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He won multiple MVPs and a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers. Favre is beloved and respected by many fans around the world. He graced the field with unforgettable performances.
The Atlanta Falcons did not realize that they had overlooked a talented quarterback. The Falcons drafted Favre in the second round of the 1991 draft. Falcons head coach Jerry Glanville didn’t pay too much attention to him, but Ron Wolf did.
Wolf, the Packers GM, was responsible for landing Favre in Green Bay in 1992. Favre’s moment came during a regular-season game against the Cincinnati Bengals when the starting quarterback went down with an injury. Farve took advantage of the opportunity and led the Packers to a comeback win.
Farve became a hero in Mississippi, where he is from. He made it and overcame obstacles. However, many people don’t want to know their heroes’ controversies and dark sides.
Rebecca Gitlitz is the director and one of the executive producers of The Fall of Favre. The episode focuses on the beginning of Favre’s controversy when he was with the New York Jets. Favre is alleged to have harassed former New York Jets field reporter Jenn Sterger in 2008.
Sterger was an aspiring journalist who wanted to follow in the footsteps of or be the next Suzy Kolber. Her career came to an end due to this controversy. The public viewed her differently and sided with Farve rather than her.
Favre’s second considerable controversy is his involvement in Mississippi’s public welfare funds. Many people in the media who have covered Fabre believe that he’s taking advantage of the poor people in Mississippi.
Favre refused to participate in the documentary. He didn’t like the way Netflix portrayed him in the episode. The Jets also declined to be interviewed for the series.
Sadly, Favre is battling Parkinson’s disease. Check out the documentary. It’s currently streaming on Netflix. It was release this year.
