Team Europe wins the Ryder Cup, 15-13 over Team USA. They have done it again. Europe previously won the 2023 Ryder Cup.
Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Jon Rahm combine for a 10-4-1 record. As for the Americans, Cameron Young, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, and Xander Schauffele made a comeback for Team USA on Sunday, but the rally was too little too late.
Shane Lowry made the final putt to give the Europeans the championship.
Captain Luke Donald is arguably the best captain in the history of Ryder Cup for Team Europe. His leadership, class act, and humility motivated his team to go out and win.
Donald went out of his way to praise his teammates, especially McIlroy, who has accomplished so much in the game of golf and is one of the best leaders/teammates for Team Europe.
“Ryder Cup week is the best week of our lives,” Donald said during the press conference. “Rory achieved so much in this game. His place in history is set.”
Team Europe spends weeks together. They cherish moments together. It’s one of the things that Donald set the tone for the team from the beginning. Team chemistry means everything to him, and he’s grateful for all of his 12 players.
As for the fans in attendance in New York, they were very disrespectful. The Ryder Cup can be an intense and passionate event. All of those things are great for sports, but when lines are crossed, there could be some repercussions.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if many fans were drinking a lot. Team Europe deserved much better treatment from the crowd. Justin Rose got booed at one point. Rory didn’t like how he was received.
“I don’t think we should ever accept that in Golf,” McIlroy said. “I think Golf should be held at a higher standard than what was seen out there this week. Golf can unite people. Golf teaches you life lessons. It teaches you how to play by the rules.”
Europe has won nine of the last 12 Ryder Cups. It’s also Europe’s first win on American soil since 2012.
