Disney announces that Josh D’Amaro will be the next CEO. D’Amaro will succeed Bob Iger.
Disney decided on Tuesday morning, and the company believes that D’Amaro is a fantastic executive and a strategic thinker in his business decisions. In addition, the company believes that D’Amaro has creative instincts that can help it achieve greater success.
Iger is 74 years old and will officially step away next month. In 2020, Iger handed the leadership reins to Bob Chapek, but after some struggles, Iger returned to the CEO role in 2022. It seems this time, it may be better that Iger is moving on from Disney.
The 54-year-old new CEO has been with Disney since 2020. D’Amaro has grown with the company and has excelled. Many Disney fans are familiar with him. Disney has been spending a lot of money expanding its parks and building more attractions for super fans.
Although Disney has received some backlash due to its prices increasing across the board, from theme park tickets to food to resorts and more. Inflation played a role in the price increases. It’s not the only reason, but one of the main reasons.
D’Amaro is not proficient in the movie and television department. His bread and butter have been theme park experiences, cruise vacations, and consumer products. It’s going to be a challenge, but D’Amaro will surround himself with the best team possible to help him navigate and understand all the aspects of Disney’s upcoming movies and shows.
Before getting the promotion, D’Amaro served as the chairman of Disney Experiences. The annual revenue from these decisions reaches up to $36 billion due to the growth of cruise line operations, video games, and more.
