Stephen Colbert, a 10-time Emmy winner, will have his eyes set on his next gig—Colbert plans to write a new script for The Lord of the Rings. Colbert is a big fan of the movie.

Director of the franchise, Peter Jackson, alongside others, made the announcement in a video about their new plans. Colbert is ecstatic to get started with the process.

The next “LOTR” film is set to be released in 2027, and the title is “The Hunt for Gollum,” directed by and starring Andy Serkis, an alumnus of the franchise from the beginning. Zane Weiner is producing the first Gollum film alongside Jackson and two other producers.

Colbert’s idea for the next installment will be based on parts of Tolkien’s “The Fellowship of the Ring” book that didn’t make it into the original movies.

The franchise means a lot to Colbert. One of the things he wants to do and is on a mission to make happen is to work on the script with his son, Peter McGee, who is a screenwriter. Colbert will air his show on May 21, the final episode after the network canceled the long-running late-night talk show last year.

Many people were wondering what was going to happen with Colbert after the late-night show. It’s the best thing he’s known for. It will present a fun challenge if he can hit this new installment out of the ballpark. It’s not easy to write an impeccable script, especially for a movie franchise that dominated the box office in the early 2000s. Colbert must deliver with this project.

Before the new movie, everyone should check out the early works of LOTR to understand everything. That’s the process moviegoers have to go through with a film franchise.
