A new Jeffrey Epstein TV series is in the works. Actress Laura Dern and director-producer Adam McKay will team up to bring the story to the TV screen.
The show will be based on the book Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story. Julie K. Brown, a journalist at the Miami Herald, wrote the book. The story centers on tackling the truth behind Epstein and his sex abuse crimes in 2017 and 2018.
Dern is a nine-time Emmy Award nominee and an Oscar winner. She has delivered in many roles throughout her career. Dern won an Oscar for a supporting role in the 2020 movie, Marriage Story. She also won an Emmy for her performance in the HBO limited series, Big Little Lies. Dern is also known for performing in memorable films such as Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
In this drama series, Dern will portray Brown. Sharon Hoffman, who is known for her work in Mrs. America and Pieces of Her, will be the main writer of the series. Hoffman, alongside two producers and Dern and McKay, will be the executive producers of the series.
With many names attached to the project, we can see this project getting nominated for several Emmys. Dern and McKay have had many successes individually, and telling a story about Epstein will definitely create a lot of buzz.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the newspaper series and Brown’s book also interview several Epstein’s victims, several of whom spoke on the record for the first time.
McKay has worked in satirical films throughout his career, writing and directing The Big Short, Vice, and Don’t Look Up. As far as television, McKay’s latest works are Succession and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
