Michael B. Jordan is one of Hollywood’s most successful young actors. Jordan won an Academy Award for his performance in Sinners. His success comes from having a strong family unit and team.
The 39-year-old is very selective in the roles he portrays on screen. Jordan is very attentive to detail and always thinks twice before who he surrounds himself with. Jordan grew up in New Jersey. From a young age, he would constantly go to New York for auditions.
Jordan stopped for an interview on the Jay Shetty Podcast. Jordan is grateful and lucky to be raised by two parents and was well disciplined. He loves to see people win, and he’s very optimistic.
“I was a big dreamer as a kid,” Jordan said. “I was working at a young age, booking auditions, getting this job and traveling to this place.”
Jordan grew up poor, but his parents didn’t make it obvious and played it off well. They made sure their kids didn’t feel poor. As he got older, Jordan understood the sacrifice and love their parents had for him. Jordan learned service and hard work through his parents.
“For me, being a person of service comes from how I was raised, and those are the examples that I knew growing up,” Jordan said.
Jordan went to church and practiced spirituality. Growing up in a faith-based world helped strengthen Jordan and his family. There’s so much happiness and work ethic in the Jordan family. Jordan admits that he was mischievous as a kid.
“There were moments where my dad disciplined me, for whatever I did at the time,” Jordan said. “My mom would have a conversation around the why. And then forced or pushed or nudged into a space where you had to acknowledge your siblings also in that situation.”
Family over everything is the motto for the Jordan family. Every generation has different upbringings. Jordan’s success and staying away from scandals all come from strong family values. He’s passionate about humanity and bringing people together in a positive way. Authenticity is vital for Jordan.
