Andrew Velazquez

Andrew Velazquez is living his dream. He always wanted to be a Yankee and now he’s playing for them.

The 27-year old is from the Bronx. He was the 7th round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2012 MLB Draft. Yankees are his fifth organization and now has been one of the contributing factors of the Yankees longest winning streak of the year.

Velazquez is filing in for injured Gleyber Torres. While filing in for him, Velazquez has played strong defense at shortstop and getting some big hits. He seems very positive and confident out there on the field.

Oh yes! There is another important piece of information. Velazquez hit his first career home run on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins.

Anthony Volpe: The Red Hot Short

Anthony Volpe is doing something special that many people should start paying attention to. The 20-year old shortstop out of New Jersey is having an incredible first year in the minors.

Volpe got drafted by the Yankees in the first round in the 2019 MLB Draft. Volpe is on his way to becoming the Yankees’ top prospect. Volpe is batting .305 with 28 home runs and 28 steals. Not bad at all. According to the New York Post, Volpe expressed that he wants to win the High A championship. This kid has an attitude of a winner. He doesn’t only want to get to the big leagues, but he also wants to win. Volpe and the Yankee fan base could be a great marriage because Yankee fans are obsessed with winning. Yankee fans are not easy to please. They want you to give it 110% at all times.

Volpe grew up in Manhattan, and guess who his favorite player was growing up? No other than the captain Derek Jeter. Jeter influenced Volpe to play the shortstop position. Volpe is a high-energy player with power and speed. If this young phenom continues this streak, we might see him in the Bronx sometime next year.

Tigers Announcer Suspended

We live in sensitive times. Political correctness and cancel culture are out of control. It gets very tiring and annoying when people get offended by any little thing. However, in this case, it’s understandable, and Jack Morris should’ve thought about this more carefully before doing so.

Detroit Tigers announcer Jack Morris made some comments last week about Angels star Shotei Ohtani. Morris stereotyped a Japanese accent on a Tigers-Angels broadcast. Morris apologized, but it wasn’t enough. The 66-year old is suspended indefinitely, and we will have him undergo sensitivity training.

Sensitivity training? Sensitivity training? Really? Are we going that over the top? Suspending him was enough punishment, but a “sensitivity training” for a man in his 60s doesn’t make total sense. Have players in the past received this level of punishment for insensitive comments? I don’t think so. If this is the case, you have to look at everything and discipline everyone the same way. It doesn’t matter what level of stature they may have.

Hopefully, Jack Morris learns from this experience.

Ice-T Friend Shot Dead

Rapper and Actor Ice-T is mourning the death of his friend. Ice-T’s friend Joseph “Taheim” Bryan was killed at 11:15pm Thursday in Long Island City, Queens.

Bryan was 50 years old when he was gunned down outside the Jackson Park luxury apartment complex. There’s not enough reason why he was killed. The case is far from over as we wait for more information on what caused Bryan’s death.

Cannonier and Gastelum

A middleweight fight will take place tonight in Las Vegas. Jared Cannonier will go up against Kelvin Gastelum.

One of the biggest challenges of Gastelum’s career. Why? He must prove to everyone that he’s still a force to be reckoned with in the ring. Gastelum has lost four of his last five bouts, but regardless of those losses, Gastelum is still a bad man, and it would be wrong to underestimate him.

Cannonier will need to use his explosiveness, power, and striking to have the edge over Gastelum to walk away with a victory tonight.

UFC is such an exciting sport, isn’t it? We are hoping to see a great fight.

Giannis and Milwaukee Brewers

A piece of news that we didn’t see it coming, but it’s not fake for sure. Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo has purchased a stake in the Milwaukee Brewers. Giannis’ loyalty to the city of Milwaukee will continue to go on for years and years to come.

Giannis is taking a page of Patrick Mahomes. For those of you who don’t know, Mahomes invested in a baseball franchise, and that franchise is the Kansas City Royals. Mahomes joined their ownership. The similarity between Giannis and Patrick is that they’re both young superstars and won a championship with their small-market team. You have to respect that.

When Giannis was a free agent last summer, many expected him to leave. He fooled many of us. He decided to stay and signed a five-year, $228 million supermax contract extension with the Bucks. Giannis built his career in Milwaukee and helped them bring a championship by defeating the Phoenix Suns.

Henrik Lundqvist Retires After 15 Years

Former New York Rangers Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has announced his retirement, ending a legendary 15-year NHL career.

Lundqvist retires with a record of 459-310-96 in 887 career NHL games, with a save percentage of .918, a 2.43 goals-against average, and 64 shutouts. He is the Rangers’ franchise leader in all those categories.

Sadly, Henrik didn’t win a Stanley Cup with the Rangers. His best chance to win a Stanley Cup was from 2012-2015. Teams like the New Jersey Devils, Los Angeles Kings, and Tampa Bay Lightning got in the way of Henrik to have a ring. He was terrific for the Rangers. When many thought about who would replace Mike Richter, it was Henrik Lundqvist who took his place. Henrik will forever be a beloved Ranger because of his hard work and tenacity. The city of New York should feel a lot of gratitude that Henrik played for the blue, white, and red uniform. We will also never forget his incredible fashion style.

Lundqvist ranks sixth in NHL history in wins, seventh in saves (23,509), eighth in games played (887), ninth in starts (871), ninth in time on ice (51,816:51), and 17th in shutouts.

Thank you, Henrik Lundqvist!

MLB and Topps Partnership Will End

it’s true! Reality is sinking in. Major League Baseball and Topps Co. are ending their longtime partnership. The partnership between MLB and Topps spans 70 years since the 1950s.

This will be absolutely devastating for Topps. When you have a long partnership with someone, you never want to see it come to an end. The fact is that nothing lasts forever.

Major League Baseball Players Association and Fanatics will start working together in 2023.

Terry Rozier Agreed to Extension

Hornets guard Terry Rozier has agreed to a four-year, $97 million extension with the Charlotte Hornets. Last season, Rozier was the Hornets’ leading scorer, averaging a career-best 20.4 points on 45% shooting from the field.

Rozier always had game. During the 2018 playoffs, Rozier made a name for himself and made basketball fans pay attention to him. While Kyrie Irving and Gordon Heyward were injured, Rozier was one of the Celtic players who stepped up. In Game 2 of the first-round playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks, Rozier scored 23 points in helping Boston take a 2–0 series lead with a 120–106 win.

In Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Rozier scored 28 points in a 109–99 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Celtics lost to the Cavs in Game 7 but came very close to beating Lebron and the Cavs in that game. If Rozier had a better shooting night, we would’ve had a different conversation.

Regardless, Rozier betted on himself and recognized his value. He went to the Charlotte Hornets and continues to thrive with this young and exciting squad.

The Hornets have a pretty solid squad coming into next season. Rozier, Gordon Heyward with Rookie of the Year guard LaMelo Ball, dunking machine Miles Bridges will be fun to watch. It looks like there’s harmony in that team. We can’t also forget about the acquisition of Kelly Oubre Jr, who can ball for any team he plays and brings passion to the game.
