Brandt Snedeker was honored with the Payne Stewart Award on Tuesday in Atlanta. The 43-year-old was filled with humility and emotion while delivering his speech. He wishes Stewart had been alive to see this honor.
Snedeker was a hard-working golfer who gave it all. He turned pro in 2004. Snedeker joined the PGA Tour as a rookie in 2007. That’s the same year he won the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. Snedeker has had 42 Top 5 finishes, 79 Top 10 finishes, 9 PGA Tour wins, and played in 434 events. In addition, he won the 2012 FedEx Cup at East Lake Golf Club. He’s never won a major championship like The Masters, US Open, The Open and PGA Championship. However, it’s not bad for a guy who finished third in The Masters (2008) and The Open Championship (2012).
His best years were 2012 and 2013. If we have to pick Snedeker’s peak or most successful years, it wouldn’t be those two. He won the most events and earned a lot of money.
Snedeker’s speech was brilliant. You can tell that he’s a family man and took the time to mention everyone who has helped him along the way. The moment overwhelmed him, but he was happy to receive the honor and have his family be proud of him.
