Top 10 Iconic Roles of Catherine O’Hara

Catherine O’Hara’s presence in the film and tv industry made her a beloved figure. The Canadian actor and comedian, who won an award, died at 71. She died in her home in Los Angeles.

O’Hara began her career when she performed in Second City Television, which ran from 1976 to 1984. In his sketch comedy series, she was surrounded by so many all-stars. Those stars include John Candy,

Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Harold Ramos, and Martin Short. O’Hara won a Primetime Emmy Award for her performance. 

O’Hara is known for many roles. She has been in the industry for so long. Therefore, let’s break down Catherine’s Top 10 best performances of her career.

10) Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas 

A visually stunning classic film for the holiday. O’Hara reunites with her Beetlejuice director, Tim Burton, to do the voiceover for Sally, who is a rag doll. Sally is Jack’s love interest. One of her characteristics is that she’s psychic and knows when something bad is about to happen. 

9) Waiting for Guffman 

A script written by Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy. O’Hara and Levy have been friends and collaborators for many years. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he wrote the role for her.

O’Hara plays the character of Sheila Albertson. The best scene of the movie is the Chinese restaurant scene, and O’Hara knocks it out of the ballpark. 

8) Best in Show 

Guest, Levy, and O’Hara collaborate once again a few years later, after Waiting for Guffman. O’Hara does a great job as Cookie Fleck.

7) The Studio

One of the last roles of her career. She was sensational working alongside Seth Rogen, who created the show. The Studio is one of the most critically acclaimed comedy shows on the planet right now. 

The series has been renewed for a second season, but it’s going to be bittersweet without O’Hara. She earned and deserves her nomination for portraying Patty Leigh, the former studio head and Matt Reickel’s mentor, who is the new head of Continental Studios. 

6) A Mighty Wind 

O’Hara plays as Mickey Crabbe. She was a bold, funny character in this movie. A Mighty Wind had great music and writing. The performances were all around sensational. 

5) The Last of Us 

Another one of her last roles. It’s a post-apocalyptic drama series on HBO Max. It’s based on a video game franchise. 

O’Hara joined Season 2 in a recurring role. She played the role of Gail. She’s a therapist and a wife. 

4) Home Alone 

One of the best roles of her career. Christmas won’t be the same watching Home Alone, knowing that O’Hara is no longer with us.

We won’t forget her catch phrase, “KEVIN!” 

3) Beetlejuice 

A movie most people like to watch during the Halloween season. O’Hara has stolen several scenes in this movie as Delia Deetz. 

2) Second City Television 

It all started with her. Her body of work in this classic comedy series is unparalleled. It led her to so many more opportunities after this. 

1) Schitt’s Creek 

Arguably the best performance of her career. She spent six seasons playing Moira Rose, a soap opera star. She shows her glamour and can use a variety of words. Her accent in this series is funny and impressive. She won an Emmy. In the final season, the show received 15 nominations. 

O’Hara will forever live in the hearts of the people who have followed her career for decades. O’Hara and Candy are reunited in the pearl gates of heaven.
