Presidents Day is one of the most important days of the year. Americans should dedicate the day to watch a variety of films and documentaries on Presidents from the past to the present.
There’s also great documentaries on presidents such as Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, John Adams, Jimmy Carter, and Donald Trump. Learning about the history of presidents is amazing. People should spend the whole week studying and learning about the presidents of the United States.
Some of the movies that I saw in honor of Presidents Days are the following: 1776, Lincoln, and W. 1776 is a film that came out back in 1972. William Daniels was as outstanding as John Adams. This is Mr. Feeny before Mr. Feeny. The movie came out 20 years before he landed the role on Boy Meets World. 1776 is a joyous and inspiring musical film. Great acting, cinematography, Hairstyling, and costume designing.
Lincoln is one of Steven Spielberg’s best films and one of the best films in the last 20 years. The cast is stacked. You had names like Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, Joseph Gordon Lewitt, and Adam Driver. The film was nominated for 12 Oscars. The film is a masterpiece. Watching Daniel Day Lewis portraying Abrahams Lincoknis a masterclass. One of the best to ever do it especially when we talk about method acting. Sally Field also delivered one of the best performances of her career. The scenes with her and Abraham Lincoln are outstanding. The one scene that stood out to me is when Abraham Lincoln and his wife were arguing about the potential of their son, Robert played by Joseph Gordon Lewitt, going to war and getting killed. Both Daniel and Sally were great in that scene, but Sally brought the house down with her range of acting.
“W” is a 2008 film about the life and political career of George W. Bush. Josh Brolin does a great job portraying the character. My biggest problem with the film is the script. The acting was amazing but the movie could’ve been better with a much better script. It was directed by the great Oliver Stone who is no stranger to making political and war films.
