The Detroit Red Wings snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 on Saturday.
Red Wings improve to 5-5, currently 5th in the Atlantic Division.
Dylan Larkin scored two power-play goals in the second period. Goaltender Cam Talbot made 31 saves for the Red Wings. It’s a redemption performance for Talbot since he lost to the Sabres in the previous meeting.
After the game, Larkin spoke with reporters about Talbot’s impact on the game.
“The difference maker got us two points,” Larkin said. “Unbelievable stops all night there, pretty perfect game. He was there for us, the rest of the guys, everyone you know, blocking shots.”
Larkin has seven goals this season. Two of his seven goals came on power play possessions.
It was a must-win game for the Red Wings. It’s been a rollercoaster, but their performance against the Sabres was a good step in the right direction.
The third period could’ve been better, but they would need to go back to the drawing board and fix their flaws.
The Red Wings will travel to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks on Wednesday night. They won’t play at home until next Saturday, November 9th, against the New York Rangers.
Six of their next seven games will be on the road against teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks.
