Kameron Misney hits a game-winning walk for a home run to give the Tampa Bay Rays a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
It’s the Rays first game in the field due to the collapse of Tropicana Field. The Rays will play all of their home games at the Steinbrenner field.
The 27-year-old Misner wasn’t in the starting lineup. He came into the game as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning. Misney won’t forget this moment, and it was a tremendous way to kick off his season.
Ryan Peplot was the starting pitcher for the Rays. He had a good outing. Peplot struck out eight hitters and gave up one earned run through six innings. Pete Fairbanks won by pitching one inning and recording two strikeouts out of the bullpen.
Rays went 2-for-5 in runners in scoring position. Rays trailed 2-0 until they scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Junior Caminero doubled. Jose Caballero singled to left field to bring in two runs.
Rays will play the Rockies at 4:10 pm on Saturday. Zack Littell will take the mound for the Rays.
