Wrestler Terry Bollea, best known in the ring as “Hulk Hogan,” has passed away. He was 71 years old. Hogan is one of the biggest superstars in wrestling history.
Hogan had many moments in his wrestling career, whether in WWE or WCW. He had an incredible run from the 1980s to the early 2000s, cementing his longevity in the business. Hogan’s popularity grew after he made a cameo appearance in the Rocky III movie, fighting against Sylvester Stallone.
Stallone would induct Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. Hogan’s appearance in Rocky took him to another level as a superstar. His most famous match came in 1987 at Wrestlemania 3 when he wrestled Andre “The Giant”, which resulted in the infamous slamming Andre to the mat.
Hogan revealed that most, if not the entire match against Andre “The Giant,” was improvised, which is unbelievable and impressive.
In the mid-1990s, Hogan decided to change scenery. He signed with Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling and began a new era in his career. This decision did not sit well with WWE chairman Vince McMahon because both companies were rivals. However, the decision turned out great for Hogan.
At that point of his career, Hogon mostly portrayed a baby-face character. When he joined forces with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to form NWO and turned heel, it changed the landscape of wrestling. His popularity grew, and WCW started beating WWE in ratings for 84 consecutive weeks.
Hogan came back to WWE in 2002. He won the undisputed WWE championship at Backlash after defeating Triple H, thanks to interference by The Undertaker. We can’t forget the stare down at Wrestlemania 18 between Hogan and The Rock, which took place in Toronto.
The crowd was amazing that night. Both wrestlers looked at the crowd, and it was an unforgettable image. It gives anyone goosebumps.
Hogan would finish his wrestling career at TNA. Before Hogan passed away, he changed his lifestyle and turned his life over to the lord. He became a Christian and a man of faith.
