The Cincinnati Reds bounce back after the Speedway Classic game to win on the road against the Chicago Cubs, 3-2, on Monday at Wrigley Field.

Tyler Stephenson put the Reds on the board in the top of the second inning with a solo home run to left field. It’s his ninth home run of the season. Dansby Swanson would respond with a 2-run home run in the third inning to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead.

Momentum shifted back to the Reds’ way in the sixth inning when Elly De La Cruz tied the game with his 24th double.

In the top of the seventh inning, TJ Friedl gave the Reds the lead when he delivered an RBI single to bring Jake Fraley home.

The Reds’ bullpen did well closing out the game, especially Scott Barlow. The 32-year-old reliever earned his fifth win of the season after coming to the game and striking out four Cubs in two innings of work. He improves to 5-0.

Emilio Pagan earned his 24th save of the season. Pagan finished the game by striking out the final two hitters.

The Reds are 59-54 in the season. Zack Littel will make his pitching debut for the Reds on Tuesday night against Shota Imanaga. The game starts at 8:05 pm ET.
