On Sunday, William Byron wins his first at the 0.875-mile short track at the Iowa Corn 350. He powered to the finish line ahead of Chase Briscoe and Brad Keselowski.

Hendrick Motorsports continues to rack up wins. There’s a reason why they have a track record of producing great drivers. It’s Byron’s second win of the season, and he hasn’t won a race at Daytona. This certainly must feel good for him and the Hendrick team.

Keselowski drove great. He had a lot of momentum. Briscoe came close once again. He finished second at Sonoma, second at Dover, and now second at Iowa. We need to focus on his consistency in these last couple of races. Briscoe is on the verge of winning at some point this season, but it must come soon.

There’s an interesting observation about Byron’s victory. He drove the No. 24 car—the same number that the great Jeff Gordon used to drive—and today is his birthday. It makes the victory that much sweeter and meaningful.

Byron led 141 laps to 81 for Briscoe and 68 for Keselowski.

Bubba Wallace, who won last weekend’s race, struggled in the top lane during this race at Iowa. Drivers got to him pretty quickly. However, Wallace showed resilience by talking and overcoming obstacles and ended up finishing sixth in the race.

Next Sunday will be a big event because it’s a chance for drivers to enter the final playoff spots. The event will take place at Go Bowling at The Glen on the road course at Watkins Glen International
