The Detroit Red Wings are currently on a five-game winning streak and looking to make it six straight against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.
What are some of the things that are going well for the Red Wings?
For starters, Dylan Larkin is leading the charge with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists). His leadership is setting the tone for the team.
The Red Wings’ system has been working exceptionally well in 5-on-5 battles. They have been doing this against good teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs. The coaching staff has been making the proper adjustments and handling failure well. You have to make failure your friend, learn from it, and improve.
The Red Wings are one of the best offensive teams in the league through six games so far. It’s completely different from the offense they had last year. They are producing much better offense this season.
They have created opportunities for themselves and done a good job of putting shots on goal, thereby increasing their shot percentage.
The team needs to improve in finishing games; don’t let your opponent get back into the game. Defense must improve as the season progresses.
Goaltender Cam Talbot is one of the reasons for the Red Wings’ success. He has been sharp and focused. He’s currently 3-0 with a .932 save percentage.
The Sabres are showing signs of inconsistency this season so far. They’re coming into the game with a 2-4 record. They’re having a difficult time putting pressure on their opponents. Zach Benson is their best scorer and player. The Red Wings can’t let him beat them. He’s a talented playmaker.
Predictions: Red Wings 3-1
