The New York Mets have acquired right-handed pitcher All-Star Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers.

It’s been a big week for the Mets as Peralta becomes the third addition to the team after Bo Bichette and Luis Robert Jr. Right-handed pitching prospect Tobias Myers also came through in the Peralta trade.

Freddy made two All-Star appearances as a member of the Brewers. He finished the 2025 season with a 17-6 record with a 2.70 ERA in 176⅔ innings across 33 starts. Peralta has three consecutive seasons with at least 200 strikeouts.

David Sterns has pulled some strings this week. Sterns is excited to have Peralta part of the Mets organization.

“Acquiring Freddy adds another established starter to help lead our rotation,” Stearns said in a statement. “Throughout the offseason, we sought to complement our rotation with another front-end pitcher, and we’re thrilled we are able to bring Freddy to the Mets.”

The 29-year-old right-hander joins the Mets rotation that consists of Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea, David Peterson, Clay Holmes, and Jonah Tong. The Mets still don’t have a strong rotation. We still need to see what we’ll get from Senga and Tong.

In terms of the bullpen, Devin Williams must have a bounce-back season. It didn’t go smoothly with the Yankees last season.

With the latest additions, the Mets front office is hoping that these players can produce right away in the first half. The Mets failed to make the postseason last year. It’s going to be interesting to see who will cover first base as a full-time player. It’s going to see how Bichette will adapt to playing the third base position.

Jorge Polanco had his playoff heroics with the Seattle Mariners. Hopefully, he can continue the momentum in Queens. He might get some reps at first base or somewhere else.

Peralta is entering the final option year of a five-year, $15.5 million contract extension. He signed the contract back in February 2020.
