Tennis legend Chris Evert revealed her cancer diagnosis. Evert battles ovarian cancer for the third time in five years.

Evert was a champion on the tennis court. The 71-year-old won 18 Grand Slams throughout her career. Now, she will have to be a champion to overcome the disease. Evert has been a fighter her whole life, and she hasn’t stopped ever.

“Since I’ve had it twice, I have to go every three months to get a cast scan, and I go monthly to get blood work because I’m still taking chemo pills,” Evert said.

It’s not easy to hear the news when cancer returns to your body. It can be a demoralizing situation. The battle is far from over. Any disease must be faced with the ultimate relentlessness and toughness. Some get lucky to overcome cancer, and some are not so lucky. Evert seems confident in her chances and will continue her journey to fight the battle. She’s brave enough to share with the world about what she’s going through.

“Ovarian cancer is relentless, but I will stay optimistic and determined in continuing to fight this battle.” Everyone said.

She became the world’s number one tennis player during the 1970s. Evert promoted her documentary, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Millions of people go through cancer. Ovarian cancer has run through her family. Evert had a sister who, unfortunately, passed away due to the disease. The survival rate for ovarian cancer ranges between 52 and 55 percent.

When a person goes through a battle like cancer, it requires support and many people to help the person battle the disease. Evert had the support of her tennis rival, Martina Navratilova, who also battled cancer (breast cancer) and her medical team.

Evert will step away from her professional commitments to focus more on her health. It’s a smart and wise decision on her part because without health, we can’t do anything.
