The end of an era! Comedian, Creator and writer Larry David has decided to end Curb Your Enthusiasm after Season 12.
The 76-year-old comedian is arguably the best TV sitcom writer ever. He co-created Seinfeld, which is the best sitcom of all time, and his work in Curb Your Enthusiasm adds more to the genius creation of Larry David. In Curb Your Enthusiasm, he plays the exaggerated version of himself. Many recognizable faces appeared on the show: Wanda Sykes, Jon Hamm, JB Smoove, Vivica A Fox, Shaquille O’Neal, Lucy Liu, Ted Danson, and many more.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of those shows that’s been around for so long. I knew it’s originally programmed on HBO for years. It took me a long time to finally take a chance on the show, and I’m glad I did. It’s hilarious, outstanding writing, good directing, especially from Larry Charles, whom also worked on Seinfeld. May God Bless Larry David and the rest of the writing and directing team.
There are so many great episodes in the series, but there are two that I want to acknowledge:
Season 2, Episode 8: Shaq
Larry attends a Laker game at Staples Center. He has front-row seats. At one point, he stretches his legs while putting his hands on top of his head. Without knowing and accidentally, Shaq trips because of Larry, and it results in Shaq getting injured. Shaq didn’t notice that Larry’s legs were in the way. O’Neal limps off of the court with the trainer’s help. Everyone in the arena blamed David for injuring Shaq, and Larry received a ton of boos.
Season 8, Episode 9: Mister Softee
This is a hilarious episode. An ice cream truck brings back painful memories to Larry David. The performance in this episode is through the roof. It is one of Larry’s best acting performances of this show.
Mister Softee ice cream truck can relate to all of us, especially at a young age. It reminds me of my deceased uncle, who used to work at the ice cream truck in the 90s. Mister Softee ice cream truck will always have a special place in my heart, but thankfully, I have no painful memories like Larry in this episode. Nothing but good memories for me.
The twelfth and final season will premiere on February 4, 2024.
