Brandt Snedeker is this year’s U.S. team captain for the Presidents Cup 2026. Snedeker selected Chris Gotterup for the team.
Gotterup is a 5-time winner on the PGA Tour.
“To be part of the team is something that I’ve been looking forward to all year and working hard to be there,” Gotterup said.
Gotterup is having a big year. He has three wins. It’s tied for the most on the PGA Tour. Gotterup feels good to get the call from Snedeker. It’s a totally different story compared to last year. Gotterup felt bummed that he didn’t get to play in last year’s Presidents Cup. All the effort paid off this season. He worked very hard, and his performance got rewarded in a big way.
Gotterup is looking forward to bonding with the rest of the players. It’s going to be an experience of a lifetime. Not only does he want to be great on the golf course, but he’s also focused on getting friendly and building camaraderie with his teammates. He loves to joke around.
“I’m excited to get in the team room, and I’m sure I’ll make fun of them, and they’ll make fun of me,” Gotterup said. “It’ll be a good time.”
Gotterup has a lot of momentum and confidence, especially after the BMW Championship. He feels good about his game and how much he’s improved.
Other players joining Team U.S. are Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Jacob Bridgeman, Jackson Koivan, Wyndham Clark, Russell Henley, Sam Burns, Collin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele. Gotterup is one of three players on the Team USA roster who will be making their debuts in the event, along with Bridgeman and Koivan.
The U.S. team won the cup in 2024 at Royal Montreal. The team is looking to make it eleven straight this year.
