Miami Heat’s Duncan Robinson and Jaime Jaquez Jr led the team in scoring off the bench.
Tyler Herro’s outstanding performance may have overshadowed their contributions, but Robinson and Jaquez’s combined 28 points are a big deal.
Let’s start with Robinson first. The sharpshooter didn’t have his three-point shooting mojo tonight as he made just two of his ten attempts, but he contributed 14 points with six rebounds, four steals, and three assists across 36 minutes.
Robinson’s best highlight in this game against the Pistons was throwing the lob to Bam Adebayo in overtime.
Robinson has averaged nine points and two rebounds in 18 minutes through nine regular-season games.
Jaquez is the second-leading scorer coming off the bench. What can we say about the second-year player out of UCLA? He is the ultimate competitor and represents what Heat basketball is all about.
Jaquez is fearless and loves to take on challenges. His performance in the third quarter was enjoyable to watch, with him and Cade Cunningham going back and forth.
Jaquez logged 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 25 minutes.
Jaquez thrives in the second unit, quickly emerging as the unit leader during his young basketball career.
Also, if coach Erik Spoelstra ever needs him to step up in the starting lineup, Jaquez would be ready for the challenge.
On Tuesday night, the game between the Heat and Pistons felt like a playoff game.
Jaquez is averaging nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists, shooting 42 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point line through seven games played this season.
