Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame have agreed to a new six-year contract through 2030.
Freeman originally signed a six-year deal in December 2021, following Brian Kelly’s departure to LSU.
Since taking over the program, Freeman has a 30-9 record. Before coming to Notre Dame, he spent four years as the defensive coordinator at Cincinnati.
He also made stops at Ohio State, Kent State, and Purdue.
Notre Dame has a 10-game winning streak. He led the team to an 11-1-0 record and will play at home in the first 12-team College Playoff Football against the Indiana Hoosiers on December 20.
Freeman and the Notre Dame players have strong chemistry. Their relationship grew after they suffered a shocking loss to Northern Illinois in Week 2.
Freeman will be around in South Bend for a long time. He’s a ferocious leader and knows how to bring the best out of these young players.
