The Clemson Tigers won an impressive comeback victory, 7-6, over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The Tigers were down 6-0 in the game. Tryston McCladdie scored on a wild pitch with one out in the ninth inning.
It was a crushing loss for the Demon Deacons. However, the Demon Deacons (19-6, 7-2 ACC) own a 7-2 record against the Tigers (23-3, 4-2 ACC) over the last three seasons.
The Demon Deacons scored three runs in the first and three more in the second inning. Their offense didn’t score more runs after the second inning.
Dominic Listi is one of the best hitters of the Tigers lineup. Listi went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI in the game, all of which came in the third and sixth innings.
Cannarella was also sensational. He had two hits, which included a clutch 2-run single in the eighth inning. Listi and Cannarella catalyzed the Tigers’ offense on Sunday afternoon.
Lucas Mahlstedt (1-0) earned his first win of the season. Mahlstedt pitched the final three innings of the game.
The Demon Deacons’ and Tigers’ game on Sunday will go down as one of the most memorable games of the season. It was a fantastic finish.
The Tigers host Coastal Carolina on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Demon Deacons will play Elon on Tuesday at the same time.
