The UNLV Rebels erupted with a seven-run eighth inning to comeback and defeat the Arizona State Sun Devils, 11-6 on Tuesday night.
The Rebels improves to 14-10 in the season. The Sun Devils fall to 16-7.
Sun Devils entered the eighth inning with a 6-4 lead. Centerfielder Gunnar MYRO hit a clutch three-run double to bring everyone home and gave the Rebels a 7-6 lead. Dean Toigo, Dwight Allen II, and JP Hefft added insurance runs in the same inning.
Toigo finished the game going 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Rebels. Reliever Michael Taylor earned his first win of the season. He struck out two Sun Devils batters in one inning of work. Josh Butler picked up his second loss of the season after he gave up four runs and three hits.
Sun Devils jumped early in the game by scoring two runs in the first inning. Left fielder Brandon Compton hit an RBI single to right field. First baseman Jacob Tobias and catcher Brody Briggs also had RBIs for the Sun Devils in this game. Starter Easton Barrett took the mound and gave up three earned runs through three innings.
The Rebels will begin a three-game road weekend series against San Diego State. The Sun Devils will travel to Utah to take on the Utes. All three Sun Devils-Utes games will be streaming on ESPN Plus.
