Red Wolves Crush Bears 12-2 in Dominating Road Victory

Arkansas State Red Wolves dominated Central Arkansas Bears on the road and won 12-2 in a nonconference game on Wednesday night.

The Red Wolves got on board when they scored three runs in the first inning and put the dagger when they scored six runs in the fourth inning.

Infielder Wil French got things started when he hit a solo home run. French went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in this game. Catcher Kaden Amundson went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Amundson hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning. Left fielder Drake Anderson performed well, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Center fielder Ashton Quiller went 3-for-3.

Cooper Garrison took the mound for the Red Wolves. He allowed two earned runs, three hits, and two strikeouts through two innings. The Red Wolves bullpen did an exceptional job. They didn’t give up any runs and combined for five strikeouts.

Jelle van der Lelie earned his first win of the season. Luke Lorence was the losing pitcher for Central Arkansas. Lorence gave up five runs, all of which came in the fourth inning. Catcher Casey Shipley hit a home run for the Bears.

Red Wolves’ win over Central Arkansas is their first road win of the season. They improve to 11-13 in the season. Red Wolves will host a three-game series against ULM at Tomlinson Stadium-Slayton Family Field.

The Bears continue to struggle, fall to 6-17 and are currently on a seven-game losing streak. They will face Eastern Kentucky for a three-game weekend series at Bear Stadium.

The Bears and Red Wolves will meet again next Tuesday. The first pitch begins at 6 pm.
