Tampa Bay Rays took advantage of a four-run fourth inning and solid pitching to secure a 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.
It was a scoreless pitcher’s duel until the bottom of the fourth inning. Christopher Morel put the Rays on the board with an RBI single to left field.
Kameron Misner followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0. Finally, Jake Magnum got a 2-run RBI single to bring Misner and Morel home.
Drew Rasmussen earned the win for the Rays. Rasmussen recorded four strikeouts, no walks, and no earned runs in five innings of work.
Mangum had the hot bay for the Rays offense. He went 4-for-4 with four hits. Jose Caballero and Yandy Diaz also had RBIs for the Rays. First baseman Jonathan Aranda collected two hits. Aranda is batting .556 this season.
The Rays improved to 3-1. Shane Baz will make his season debut for the Rays. Baz went 4-3 in 14 starts with a 3.06 ERA. Thomas Harrington will start for the Pirates.
