Josef Newgarden has finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel. After a season of disappointment, Newgarden wins his first race of the season, the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway.

With this win, he can carry all the momentum into next season. A fantastic race, an unforgettable season for the IndyCar Series. The 34-year-old Newgarden, who drives for Team Penske, has been driving since he was a teenager.

Newgarden won 32 races in his career, which is 10th all-time, but the victory at Nashville is a special and meaningful one in his driving career. Newgarden won the race in his hometown of Nashville, which is unbelievable. Newgarden is happy for the win, but he never takes the full credit for himself. His humility was put on display during his post-race interview.

“I’m just happy for this team,” Newgarden said. “They deserve it. No one’s going to understand the pit. Chad, thanks for handling this. It’s rewarding for our team. They’ve done a great job. Will won in Portland, which was a huge lift for everybody, and he really deserved it. I think he could have won this race. It was a shame to see what happened to him. He’s a legend. I was on the radio. I was like, ‘You guys see Will? What a legend.’ Tough year. Tough, tough year, but good to get a win here at the end.”

Newgarden has been with Team Penske since 2017. When a driver joins a team that’s filled with success, they will take you to another level as a driver. Look at Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney. Newgarden has tasted success over the last couple of years, and he hopes that next year will be a different script.
