Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has a new documentary that’s premiering on Netflix on May 29th, Rafa.

Nadal has been going around making interviews to promote his new documentary. It’s a 4-part docuseries exploring his career, retirement, and his battle with injuries. Nadal joined former tennis player Andy Roddick’s podcast, Andy Rodrick’s Served Media, to discuss the project.

“I am happy I did it,” Nadal said. “It was tough at the beginning for everyone, but later on, we had a great team that made us feel comfortable, and my family got used to that. It’s something we’re going to have forever, so it’s going to be a good memory of this period of time that we were filming with small kids, and of course, what is in the documentary is important, so that everybody will see. Still, of course, I will have a lot of material for myself.”

There are some scenes that Nadal will keep for himself. He’s sharing some things but keeping others private. Nadal won 22 Grand Slams in his career. He was a fearless competitor and tough for constantly battling through pain.

“If the doctors tell me you will have zero chances to come back and to feel free to compete again for the things you are used to, I probably will not do it,” Nadal said. “The doctors gave me a percentage of positive chances that I would have the chance to come back and recover 100 percent from the hip, which is why I tried and gave myself a certain time to explore if that was the case or not. When I realized that was not the case and my hip will never be the same as before, and I will not have the chance to compete for the things that I really am excited for, I decided to take a step away.”

Nadal is content with his new life and very proud of his tennis career. He has nothing left to prove. Nadal has done it all and looks back on his career positively.
