Two of the greatest fighters of all time, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr, agree to fight each other in an exhibition match. The fight will happen in Spring 2026.
The boxing legends signed with CSI Sports/Fight Sports for the event.
It’s a strange feeling and news that caught fans by surprise because of the weight class of their decision. Mayweather and Tyson are total opposites when it comes to the ring. It’s a mismatch in many people’s minds.
Mayweather and Tyson are not new to exhibition. They have the experience. Mayweather, 48, fought Conor McGregor in what felt like an exhibition match, given McGregor’s lack of natural boxing experience as an MMA fighter.
Since retiring from boxing in 2017, Mayweather has drawn interest in participating in exhibition matches. He’s a savvy businessman who still works in the business, but he’s never out of shape, and his passion for boxing will never fade away. He’s always ready to get back in the ring and is a magician in protecting himself in the ring. The greatest defensive fighter of all time finished his career undefeated (50-0, 27 KOs).
Tyson has fought Roy Jones Jr. and Jake Paul in exhibitions. His match against Paul was his latest fight in the ring, which was in November 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event, which streamed on Netflix, became a success, drawing in 65 million viewers.
Although Tyson lost to Paul in a unanimous decision, he still has the fire to get in the ring as long as the opportunity looks and feels good from a business standpoint. Tyson has a chance to redeem himself against Floyd, but he’s far from his heyday.
Tyson is one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time. The reality is that he’s 59 years old. However, the main goal of this exhibition fight for both men is to give the fans what they want – entertainment.
