No. 5 Miami Hurricanes dominate Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 45-3 on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck was in the zone again. Beck completed 22 of his 24 passes, throwing for 267 yards and two touchdowns. It’s the second game in a row where he didn’t throw a single interception.

Backup quarterback Emory Williams got a chance to get some reps in. Williams completed 8 of 12 passes for 77 yards.

When coach Mario Cristobal was asked how important it was to put Williams in the game, this is what Cristobal had to say:

“It’s really important,” Cristobal said. “The season is long, and if your roster is going to develop, you have to get him some time both in practice and in opportunities like this. Emory is a really good player, and it was good for him to get out there and just kind of shake off some of that dust from a year ago.”

The running backs had their moment to shine in Week 2. Junior Running back Mark Fletcher Jr had a terrific performance with 11 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Girard Pringle Jr had one touchdown and rushed for 36 yards on two carries. Sophomore ChaMar Brown added a touchdown on seven carries with 35 yards.

Freshman wide receiver Malachi Toney finished the night with six receptions and 80 yards. His longest catch was a 24-yarder.

How about CJ Daniels? Daniels is another Hurricane who was an X-factor and helped the team get off to a strong start. His longest catch was for 40 yards. He finished with five receptions, 73 yards, and two touchdowns.

The Hurricanes had 31 first downs and went 4-for-6 on third down conversions. Their defense was sensational. They held the Wildcats to just 99 passing yards and 92 rushing yards. Linebacker Kellen Wiley Jr had five tackles. Defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr picked up one sack.

The Hurricanes will stay home to play against South Florida, which upset the Florida Gators on Saturday, for Week 3 at 4:30 pm. The Hurricanes are looking to improve to 3-0.
