UNC Men’s basketball team secured its first win of the season against ACC opponent, Florida State Seminoles, with a 79-66 victory in Chapel Hill on Tuesday night.

Four Tar Heels had double figures. Caleb Wilson had another sensational performance. He finished with 22 points, 16 rebounds, six assists on 9 of 15 shooting, 4 of 5 from the free throw line. Wilson’s passing ability can get overlooked. He’s a terrific facilitator. Of course, we won’t forget the tomahawk slam in the third quarter got everyone up out of their seats—one of the best dunks of the season.

Seth Trimble also delivered a good performance. Trimble added 20 points and seven rebounds in 34 minutes of playing time. Trimble played great defense as usual. Henri Veesar is a double-double machine with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Veesar is a force in the paint.

Kyan Evans had the best game of his season. He added 15 points. Congratulations to Evans. There’s been some criticism about the kid, but he showed up against the Seminoles.

The Seminoles put up a good fight. If they made their three pointers, the game would’ve been different. They play well in the first quarter and at the beginning of the second half. Chauncey Wiggins led the Seminoles with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

UNC shot 42 percent from the field, 70 percent from the free-throw line, and won the rebound game (45 to 32). Also, they were dominant in the paint (42-20).

Carolina has won seven in a row against the Seminoles. The Tar Heels remain unbeaten at home.

The Tar Heels will hit the road to face SMU on Saturday, Jan 3 at 2:15 pm ET.
