Sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s has officially announced that they will file for IPO.

The company has over a thousand locations and is a very popular place that has made a difference in people’s lives for many years. Jersey Mike’s is the second-largest sandwich chain in the U.S.

It all started in 1956 as a submarine sandwich, and their focus is family-friendly. It still runs that way to this day. Many families eat their sandwiches together, especially on boardwalks such as those along the Jersey Shore in New Jersey. The company began to take off when Peter Cancro started working at Jersey Mike’s at the age of 14 in 1971. Four years later, Cancro bought the shop thanks to a loan from his football coach, who was also a local banker.

Cancro has done an impeccable job running the shop for decades. Some of the best-known ingredients the shop uses for its sandwiches are lettuce, vinegar, onions, tomatoes, and oil. They also have top-notch cheeses and meat. Jersey Shore’s Favorite (provolone, ham, and cappacuolo), Cancro Special, Strickball Special, and The Super Sub are some of the most popular and best sandwiches on their menu.

Black Rock Coffee Bar is the last restaurant to go public. Jersey Mike’s will be the next restaurant to join them. Interestingly, the sandwich chain took them this long to file for IPO. Jersey Mike’s saw strong revenue growth in 2025. The shop brought in $309.8 million. Now that the company will go public, we expect those numbers to increase by 10 or even 20 percent, over the next 2-3 years.

Blackstone has their hands on Jersey Mike’s. Blackstone bought a majority stake worth up to $8 billion. The future is looking bigger and brighter for Jersey Mike’s.
