The new Scary Movie 6 made $56 million at the box office, the most in the franchise’s 26-year history.
Shawn and Marlon Wayans made their return to the movie franchise for the first time since Scary Movie 2. The fans waited 25 years to see the brothers reunite. Aside from the brothers coming back, Anna Faris and Regina Hall also reprise their roles as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks.
In this new movie, the next generations are featured, such as Marlon’s kids and Shawn’s kid. Damon Wayans Jr. is also in the movie. The Wayans family continues to work in show business and stays connected through various projects. Marlon and Shawn appeared on the Good Morning America show to promote the new movie.
Shawn’s 6-year-old son did some artwork based on the movie. Shawn’s very proud of his work. Marlon had posted it on his social media account. Shawn had this to say about his son’s work.
“We posted the first one, and he was like, “You going to post the next one?” Shawn said. “I want to post all of your artwork, son, and he’s like, “I really would like that. It makes me really happy.”
It felt like a high school reunion for the Wayans, Hall, and Faris to make this picture again. Hall and Faris are two great actresses who have impeccable comedic timing. Hall has come a long way as an actress. She can do comedy and serious roles at the same time.
Shawn, Marlon, and Keenan (who directed the first Scary Movie in 2000) all co-wrote the script alongside Craig Wayans, their nephew, and Rick Alvarez, who not only helped with the script but also co-produced with the Wayans family. Michael Tiddes directed the new Scary Movie. It’s the sixth collaboration with Marlon, dating back to A Haunted House, their first.
Paramount Pictures is the distributor for Scary Movie 6. The movie got hammered by critics, but it achieved box-office success.
